Rudy Can Win Iowa

So says Iowa 2008 oracle Krusty. This is how:

I've been passing a lot of kudos around recently. I think it makes sense to give a little to Rudy. I think Rudy has a real shot at winning Iowa. I’ve talked about Rudy’s star power and when I saw him around the state in 2006 he attracted crowds like no one outside of President Bush. He had a huge media following and when he headlined a leadership konference in Des Moines in 2006 he packed the Wells Fargo Arena. In this Strategic Vision poll Rudy leads amongst Iowa Caucus goers. Here’s how I think he wins (here Krusty outlines the details of how Rudy can do it. Please click here for the full account. If you are obsessed enough with 2008 to come here you should be refreshing Krusty several time a day anyways!):
  1. Solidify GOP Moderates

  2. Reach Out to Leadership Konservatives

  3. Find New Caucus Goers
The difference between a primary and a caucus is huge for kandidates like Giuliani. It takes a much bigger kommitment from a supporter to attend a caucus (meeting) at 7 pm on caucus night instead of whenever it’s konvenient to stop by your local polling place. It is also probably going to be 8 degrees outside, snowing, the wind will be blowing and what if there is a new episode of 24 on TV that night?
The CW among the seminal Iowa blogs is that Mitt Romney has the inside track to winning Iowa. However, the presence of a Gov. Huckabee or a Sen Brownback may dilute Mitt's targeted base enough to throw the victory to one of the frontrunners who are viewed as underdogs in Iowa right now despite their leads in the polls.
