How Big an Icon?

Fred Siegel raises a very interesting point, one that I have to admit flew right past me during the time surrounding Kevin Keating's slander piece "Giuliani Time".

The fact that there is a niche market for a product like Giuliani Time should perhaps rather be seen as further evidence that today, five years after September 11, the former mayor’s star continues to burn brightly in the national political firmament—as far as the angry Left is concerned, much too brightly for comfort.

This rings true to me. How big of an American Icon do you have to be to get your own personal "Fahrenheit 9/11"?

This is another example of how Rudy's place in American Culture transcends mere politics. "The Left" has already begun to realize that Rudy is this generation's Ike- a national hero who to many everday Americans represnts more than just politics and party.
