Rudy Giuliani Watch: Rudy Wins GOP Women Straw Poll

Giuliani

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani addresses the National Federation of Republican Women during their convention in Palm Springs, Calif., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007.

Soren has the story:

  1. Rudy Giuliani: 50%
  2. Fred Thompson: 21%
  3. Mitt Romney: 14%
  4. Huckabee: 7%
  5. Hunter: 4%
  6. McCain: 2%

A good showing for Hizzoner and reflects what the Gallup Poll says about Giuliani’s appeal across GOP subgroups.

Stay tuned……

Rudy in Santa Barbara California Part 3

Rudy Giuliani at Joe’s Cafe, Santa Barbara, California, September 27, 2007

These videos are from two days ago when Flap attended a Giuliani public event after a mega fundraising event at the Santa Barbara Biltmore.

The crowd pressed and everyone one wanted a photo op with the Mayor. At times Rudy’s staff was pushed out of the way by the crowd - except his BIG bodyguard.

The second video is the news presser held outside Joe’s:

The Mayor has unbelievable energy and vigor. After this event he flew to Lancaster, attended two events there and then flew to Las Vegas for a fundraiser at the Venetian.

Later in the evening/early morning, Hizzoner flew back to Los Angeles where he spent the night. His next event was at 10 AM where former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan endorsed Rudy at his restaurant, The Original Pantry.

What a schedule.

Former California Governor Pete Wilson Endorses Giuliani for President

Flap attended the endorsement announcement yesterday morning at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, California. The above is one of six videos that Flap recorded.

Ok, so former Governor Pete Wilson endorses Rudy what does it mean?

Two words:

1. Fundraising

2. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s quasi endorsement

Governor Wilson’s fundraising cabal is still intact after all of these years. In fact, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s chief fundraiser, Marty Wilson, was a top aide (in various positions) for Governor Wilson for at least a decade.

Who aided the Governator in his recall election against Democrat Governor Gray Davis?

Why, the Wilson folks.

Flap thought it was presumptuous the California Republican Party last February gave Rudy the run of the California Republican Convention in Sacramento. If you recall it was at the convention that Rudy announced for the Presidency.

I was told by a source at the time Rudy had the consent of the Governor.

Now, the connection is apparent.

Will Arnold Schwarzenegger endorse Rudy prior to the February 5, 2007 primary election.

Flap says count on it if Rudy maintains his lead in the California and national polls.

Giuliani Poll Watch: Florida - Rudy Leads While Romney Sinks

Rudy Giuliani in New York yesterday

Rasmussen: Election 2008: Florida Republican Primary

  • Thompson - 23% (17%)
  • McCain - 12% (7%)
  • Romney - 11% (15%)

Rudy continues to lead in Florida even with a Thompson bump due to his recent announcement of candidacy. This is the second poll in the past few days that shows Rudy leading.

McCain has increased but has no organization in the state.

Mitt Romney is not gaining traction in Florida and has decreased 4 points since last month. He now resides in fourth place.

Stay tuned…….

Rudy Giuliani’s Road to the White House

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani, left, speaks local resident Melanie Chase and her son Jordan about her concerns with border security, during a campaign stop at the Sarris candy store in Canonsburg, Pa., Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007.

Chuck Todd, political director over at NBC News has this piece as to why Rudy continues to be the frontrunner and FAVORITE to win the GOP nomination for President.

So who is the stronger frontrunner for their respective party’s nomination, Hillary Clinton or Rudy Giuliani ? My answer might surprise you. Considering where things are right now in both primary fights, factoring in money, the calendar and certain intangibles, a strong case can be made that Giuliani’s tenuous grip on the frontrunner tag is as strong, if not stronger than Clinton’s.

This may seem nuts to think considering the slew of polls showing Clinton leading and her standing in the early states improving, but remember this campaign is about more than poll standing right now. And don’t get too caught up in the Giuliani poll standing right now since we are in the midst of a Fred Thompson bump. Talk to me in a month if this Thompson tightening continues, but until then, tread carefully.

What Todd should have mentioned is ELECTABILITY. As it becomes clearer that Hillary will be the nominee fro the Democrats, GOP voters will choose a candidate that CAN beat her.

Neither Romney nor Thompson will hold up to the ELECTABILITY TEST and put 50 states except Massachusetts in play.

Stay tuned…….
