Rudy Giuliani Watch: What Are You Going to Do About Putin?

Republican presidential candidate, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, speaks during a town hall meeting in Boca Raton, Florida November 30, 2007.

At a town hall meeting in Florida this afternoon, a questioner asked Rudy what he was going to do about Russian President Vladimir Putin?

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani on Friday advocated a strong military build-up by the United States as a bulwark against the oil-rich Russian President Vladimir Putin and his increasing consolidation of power in the country.

“The good part with Russia is we’re not in a Cold War, there is no longer a Soviet empire, their desires are still of a matter of concern but they’re not nearly what they used to be and we don’t want to get ourselves back into that,” said Giuliani, who described Putin as both “good and bad.”

“Long term the way we prevent getting ourselves back into that, both with regard to Russia, and even China, is to become militarily even stronger.”

Of course! And a good answer by the Mayor. The military was weakened by Hillary Clinton’s husband, Bill, and while he used the “peace dividend” to pay down budget deficits over the long term America’s military might still suffers.

The Mayor has not lost a step with the “political hits” over the last few days and is playing to his leadership role as America’s next President.

When the chips are down, who does America REALLY want as President to lead them against Russia, China, Iran and the rest of the Islamofascists?

Rudy

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani talks with businessmen, prior to an address at a political group breakfast in Bedford, N.H.., Monday Nov. 26, 2007.

Rudy Giuliani continues a commanding double digit lead in the latest CNN Florida GOP poll:

  • Rudy - 38%
  • Mitt Romney - 17%
  • John McCain - 11%
  • Fred Thompson - 11%
  • Mike Huckabee - 9%
  • Ron Paul - 5%

This poll is in contrast to this morning’s poll that shows Mike Huckabee in second place makes one wonder if the previous poll is an outlier.

In any event, Rudy has a COMMANDING lead in Florida where tomorrow’s You Tube Debates will be held.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Time to UNMASK Romney

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani smiles as departs after a breakfast address to a political group in Bedford, N.H.., Monday Nov. 26, 2007.

Rudy Giuliani FINALLY goes on the offensive against Mitt Romney in New Hampshire.

In a big strategic shift, Rudy Giuliani hammered Mitt Romney’s record Sunday on three fronts, saying it was time to “take the mask off and take a look at what kind of governor was he.”

Using some of the toughest language of his campaign, Giuliani, in an interview with Politico, slammed Romney on health care, crime and taxes. At the same time he portrayed the one-time moderate as a hypocrite on a host of social issues who lives “in a glass house.” It was easily the most sweeping attack Giuliani has delivered against Romney in this campaign.

Rudy is right and there are plenty of issues to draw upon for television and radio ads:

Mitt Romney is ONLY doing well in the polls in states where he has been “on air” with television ads without being contested. He flounders in all of the rest and Rudy is beating him.

Watch the Giuliani campaign to start airing “FLIP-FLOP Mitt ads and other ads highlighting Romney’s oddities and inconsistencies.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: “Leadership” On Air In New Hampshire

Rudy’s second television commercial, “LEADERSHIP” is now “ON AIR” in New Hampshire and the Boston television markets.

The script:

MAYOR GIULIANI: “I believe I’ve had the most leadership experience of anyone that’s running. It’s not just holding executive positions, like Mayor of New York, or United States Attorney, or 3rd ranking official in the Reagan Justice Department. It’s having held those positions in time of crisis. I’ve been tested in a way in which the American people can look to me. They’re not going to find perfection, but they’re going to find somebody who has dealt with crisis almost on a regular basis and has had results. And in many cases, exceptional results. Results people thought weren’t possible. I’m Rudy Giuliani and I approve this message.”

The facts behind the ad are here.

Rudy is currently in second place in New Hampshire neck and neck with John McCain who won the New Hampshire GOP primary in 2000 against President Bush.

Will the Mayor’s television ad campaign persuade voters to propel him to a win?

Stay tuned…….

The Big State Strategy

Cross Posted from the FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, answers a question during a town hall meeting, while campaigning in Mount Vernon, Mo., Monday, Nov. 12, 2007.

The Rudy Giuliani “Big State” campaign strategy is well known and has been articulated for months.

However, with Mitt Romney’s resurgence in the New Hampshire polls, Michael Duhaime, Giuliani Campaign Manager went to the media yesterday to rearticulate it.

In a nutshell Rudy is banking that Florida and other “big states” (including California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania) will give Giuliani the majority of delegates by mid-April 2008 - DESPITE election losses to Mitt Romney in “early states” of Iowa and New Hampshire.

There are a number of variables and especially questions:

1. Will Mitt Romney’s poll leads in Iowa and New Hampshire hold up?

2. How will a resurgent Mike Huckabee campaign in Iowa divide votes away from Romney in Iowa?

3. Will Fred Thompson be able to mount a campaign against Romney in Iowa and South Carolina and Giuliani in Florida?

4. How will John McCain who won New Hampshire in 2000 against President Bush hurt Rudy there?

5. Would Romney wins in Iowa and New Hampshire generate sufficient MOMENTUM to propel him to victories in states where he is presently polling in third or fourth place?

Campaigns are run on money resources and there are a finite number of them with multiple elections throughout January, February, March and April 2008. How each campaign marshalls them and applies a targeted media campaign in the states where they “might” win will determine the GOP nominee.

Watch where Rudy is campaigning in the next few weeks prior to the Christmas holidays and where he launches his first television commercials. This will give the viewer insight as to where the battleground for race 2008 is.

Stay tuned…….

Pat Robertson to Endorse Rudy Giuliani

Cross Posted from the FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog

Within the hour, social conservative leader and televangelist Pat Robertson will ENDORSE Rudy Giuliani for President.

So who is Pat Robertson?

Robertson is widely viewed as one of the pillars of the religious right. He founded the Christian Broadcasting Network, the Christian Coalition and Regent University in Virginia Beach. Robertson ran for president in 1988, finishing a surprising second in the Iowa caucuses before losing steam in later states.

This is a COUP for Giuliani and highlights the split in the social conservative movement.

Previously, Mitt Romney, a Mormon, has been actively courting social conservatives and has boasted the endorsements of Paul Weyrich and Bob Jones III.

This endorsement will help the Mayor in the South and the Midwest “Bible Belt.” With his Christian Broadcasting Network, Robertson will broadcast social conservative acceptability for Rudy.

Stay tuned……..

Giuliani California Poll Watch: Rudy By 18 Points Over Second Place McCain

Cross Posted from the FullosseousFlap's Dental Blog

Republican presidential hopeful, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, second from left, signs a poster as his wife, Judith Giuliani, left, looks on in Manchester, N.H., Monday Nov. 5, 2007.

Survey USA California GOP Poll:

  • Rudy - 34% (39%)
  • McCain - 16% (13%)
  • Romney - 15% (14%)
  • Thompson - 13% (18%)
  • Huckabee - 8%

Rudy is down five points as is Fred Thompson. The race is tightening but Rudy maintains a double digit lead. Huckabee (has he been to California?) is only 5 points behind Fred Thompson.
Also, in this poll, a generic question was asked about apportioning California’s Electoral votes rather than the current “Winner Take All” system.

  • Favor: 47%
  • Against: 34%

Whether an initiative (there are two in circulation, here and here) makes it to the June 2008 to take effect in November is speculative at this time. Such a measure would be viewed to help the GOP nominee for President.
